Helen is located in the Blue Ridge Moutains on the Chattahoochee River. The city itself is a re-creation of an Alpine Village, linked to the Cherokee Indians and the Indian Burial Mound built in the early 1900's. There are many festivals held in Helen and many attractions as well as activities.

Helen has more than 200 specialty and import shops, perfect for window shopping or buying a unique things. There are several outdoor activities, tubing down the river, horse back-riding with access to nearby lakes and resorts. More outdoor activities include mini-golf, gold panning, fishing and hiking. Local Events:

Helen hosts many festivals throughout the whole year. Oktoberfest is a celebration in the season of fall, lasting for two months. At the festhalle you can enjoy German bands, food, beer and dances. Helen is a very active city which holds hot air balloon races, holiday parades and fireworks and seasonal festivals. There are festivals such a Volksmarch, Winefest and many more.
